They got old and turned into what Status Quo are now. Basically a has-been band that are almost embarrassing to watch at times.

Mike, Enter Sandman is one one of my favourite tracks but like you, am not a big fan of Metal

I watched some of their set last night and Hetfield's voice still sounded ok

Re: Metallica at Reading
I hate that song (Enter Sandman) it's so corny, I like so many of their earlier stuff but the Black album has not aged well, although I like The unforgiven and Sad but true from that album. Fade to Black is and One are their best songs imo.

Re: Metallica at Reading
Took my younger brother to Reading 1997. Metallica were boring even then. I checked he was OK banging his head and went to watch The Verve. Even though I'd seen them numerous times.

SOmetimes, music has a soul and resonates. Metallica, down to their name, are the epitome of soulless.

Ulrich is a massive tool as well. I can forgive Hetfield in some ways... he's just a redneck idiot.

Kirk Hammett is a decent enough guy. And gets treated like dogshit by Ulrich. A shit drummer.

Re: Metallica at Reading
85% of what I listen to is house and trance (especially 90s and early 2000's), however I do have time for a bit of rock and quite like metallica. (Nothing else matters is superb as are dyers eve and enter sandman).

I generally like moat music, but Music I hate R&B, almost all hip.hop, garage, dreary shit like Coldplay, modern edm and virtually anything post 2008

Re: Metallica at Reading
Metallica are the best live band I have seen. By some distance. Still absolutely brilliant performers.

They haven't written many good songs since 1991 but they don't tend to perform much of that stuff anyway.
